How can Skills for Industry 2 help you?
ESF funding has allowed us to provide financial support to local employers within the region which makes it economically viable for all ambitious businesses - small medium and large - to invest in training. With our support, the increased investment in workforce development and skills can become the driver for increased productivity and the sustained growth of your business
But as well as the financial incentives you can also count on our quality training providers who oversee the management and delivery of provision, providing all the expert advice you'll need. They'll be at your side offering support throughout.
What support will you get?
Skills for Industry 2 has programmes (titled SO1 and SO2) operating in the South West Wales region – Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion.
Both operations are identical but they target staff at different levels of skills competency:
- SO1 provides training at Entry Level and Level 2 for employees who have no or low qualifications.
- SO2 provides training for employees to increase their technical or job specific skills from Level 3 to Level 6.
If the training is on the approved list of courses, and is delivered by a participating further education college, then it can be offered to your business at a reduced cost.
If there is a specific course more suitable for your business that's not on the approved list - an application can be made to determine if funding can be made available.
The European Social Fund has allowed us to subsidise the courses, which makes it financially viable for all ambitious businesses - large and small - to invest in training. With our support, staff skills can become the driver for increased productivity and the sustained growth of your business.
As well as the financial support, you can also count on our training providers to advise and support throughout.
Although Skills for Industry 2 has been set up to help you significantly reduce your training costs, you will be asked to undertake a financial commitment. You will be required to contribute a percentage of the cost of the training depending on the size of your business.
- Small 70% off (up to 50 employees)
- Medium 60% off (51-250 employees)
- Large 50% off (250+ employees)
You will also be expected to get behind the programme in other ways. You'll need to show your support by freeing up time for staff to undergo their training and by providing suitable facilities depending on the size of your business.
Is your business eligible?
Skills for Industry 2 is available to businesses operating across south west Wales. So, if you're based in the region then your employees could qualify.
Any business - small medium or large – and any employee, any age, in your business operating in the south west Wales area should be able to qualify for the programme.
However, there are some specific eligibility criteria, so to identify the best training options for your business, contact us for further advice.
Skills for Industry 2 is part-funded by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government.
Is there a time limit to access the funding?
Currently the Skills for Industry 2 scheme SO1operation (upto level 2) is funded until August 2021, and the SO2 operation (level 3 – 6) is funded until November 2020
